SILHOUETTES

When you walked the halls in June and you may have had to look twice at the photos hanging on the walls and windows.  The activities department drew silhouettes of as many residents as they could and residents and staff alike had fun guessing who they were!

JAM & TANGO

J.M Williamson and Tango Haviland, AKA "Jam & Tango", come to Christ The King the last Wednesday of each month to entertain our residents with their unique mix of Southern and Classic Rock, Country and a little Gospel thrown in.  The variety attracts many of our residents who look forward to seeing them each month.  Thank you Jam & Tango!  Look for them this year at the Sykesville Fair!

GARRETT MILES, INTERN

Garrett Miles, an upcoming senior at Lock Haven University, recently completed one of his graduation requirements by interning at Christ The King Manor.  Majoring in Recreational Therapy, Garrett worked with Kim McMonagle and the activities department from May 9 to June 24.  The department staff was impressed with his enthusiasm, professionalism, and his ability to connect and interact with the residents respectfully and personally.  Part of Garrett’s requirements as an intern was to develop, plan, and implement an activity.  Since his future goal is to work with wounded veterans, he decided to organize a Flag Day celebration while honoring our veterans.  His first step was to acquire old military photographs to integrate into a certificate.  These were presented to each veteran during the ceremony and were accepted with great emotion.  The DuBois Honor Guard made three beautiful presentations: a Flag Folding Ceremony, POW/MIA Table, and playing of Taps and Gun Salute.  Garrett also invited his close friend to speak.  Jared McCoy, who will be starting Navy Seal training in the near future, gave a very moving and emotional presentation honoring and thanking our veterans. We will miss Garrett and pray God’s presence will continue to guide his future.
