KID'S DAY AT CKM

On August 17 Christ The King had 34 extra visitors for the day. Every year we invite the staff to bring their children to CKM to spend a day with the activities department and the residents. A super fun-filled day is the result of much planning. We started at 6 am with donuts and refreshments for the “early birds.” Crafts followed inside after all the kids arrived and then we spent most of the remainder of the day outside for carnival games, kick ball, water balloon games, snow-cones, playing with small groups, and playing with large groups. Lunch included grilled hot dogs. During a special activity the kids assisted the residents to write “Messages to Heaven” on helium filled balloons and then launched them into the sky. The children also wrote their own messages as well. No child went home that wasn’t pleasantly exhausted from the fun and they all asked when they could come back! They took home a “bucket of treats” that included a certificate of participation. One of our children wrote a special poem about Kid’s Day this year – it sums it all up!

KID’S DAY IS,
Fun, playful.
Meeting new people.
Knowing their name for the very first time.
Jumping, running, and playing outside.
Playing kickball and having a good time!
Throwing a hacky sack at cans and winning candy no matter what you do.
It’s sharing your candy and trading it too!
Than is what KID’S DAY IS !
