Our medical director, Dr. Peck, is enjoying a massage from Bernie Haag, our honorary massage therapist. We don't often see Dr. Peck sitting idle, but this is a well deserved break for an outstanding doctor. We like to take care of our care givers at Christ The King!

DOUGHNUT TUESDAY!
Several staff members helped to pass out fresh doughnuts to all of our residents throughout the building. The idea was inspired by some requests for dougnuts and viola'! Ask and you shall receive!
TEDDY BEAR CHRISTMAS BINGO
With Several beautiful donations of bears, the Activities Department held a special "Teddy Bear Bingo" for Christmas. We have a very special Bingo caller in residence right now. Mary Thelma Glenn who is 104 years old, has been doing the honors during our Bingo games. She is an amazing wealth of information who has lived through 18 presidents and has a memory that would put many of us to shame. If you are inclined, stop to say hi to her. Mary Thelma is charming and exceptionally interesting!

RIDGWAY HIGH SCHOOL BAND
Four members of the Rigway High School Band provided a pleasant diversion to our afternoon activities. Jasmine Carlson, Kylie Gorske, Akila Shrefler, and Anthony Antonuccio, along with the Band Director, Shawn Hofmann, played well known tunes that our residents could sing along to.
Thanks for coming!
DUBOIS HIGH SCHOOL DYNAMICS
The DuBois High School Dynamics charmed us with a wonderfully fun program of a variety of Christmas Carols, old and new. The choir, directed by Brennan Bell, put on a great show and our activity room was packed with residents and family members who came to enjoy the fun.
VETERAN'S DAY CELEBRATION
The DuBois Honor Guard helped us celebrate Veteran's Day on November 11 where we honored 43 Veterans, many of them WWII and Korean War Vets. It is always an emotional event and this year one of our WWII Vets, Joe Marando, helped out with a few words of thanks. All veterans at CKM received a personalized certificate. We are united in thanking all veterans, young and old, active, retired, and deceased, for their service to our country.
HOMEMADE NOODLES
Bonnie Amundson, daughter of Esther Brestovich, is known for her fabulous cooking and baking skills. Our residents were treated to her delicious pumpkin logs for our Thanksgiving Celebration. Recently she brought her homemade pasta maker to Christ The king and demonstrated how fun and delicious it is to make your own noodles. The activities staff assisted in making fried cabbage and "homemade" noodles when she was done. DELICIOUS!
Thank you, Bonnie!
VOLUNTEERS ROCK!
Gloria Averill, resident of the Gray Family Foundation Apartments, makes beautiful crocheted lap blankets for our residents. Gloria says she can't get out to help those in need so this is her way to give back to the community. We appreciate and admire her talents and kindness.
Pictured below is Gloria in her home followed by a few of our resident who are recipients of her generosity.
Thank you,Gloria!

FALL LEAVES TOURS
Every year the activities staff takes our residents out on the bus to see the autumn leaves. Although we have beautiful views right here at CKM, the bus trip to Parker Dam is a wonderful drive that is made extra special with a stop at the Minit Mart in Penfield for ice cream cones!
FALL DECORATING COMES ALIVE!
Our annual scarecrow making activity was as fun as we
anticipated. The activities staff
helped the residents construct a happy family of scarecrows and then created a
beautiful display for all to enjoy! Don't forget to check out our other fall decorations!
CREATIVE ARTS FESTIVAL WINNER
Agnes Keibler was awarded first place in her category in

proud to have her here as she continues her art. Agnes has sold many paintings over the last few months and has

LONG LOST FRIENDS!
Thanks to some keen investigative work by our social services director, Kelly Saltzgaber, Bobby Woodall was visited by long a lost friend, Jimmy Halsted. Jimmy is from Hyettsville, MD, near Washington DC, and did not hesitate in scheduling a visit after being contacted out by Kelly. Jimmy drove to Christ The King on August 14, picked up Bobby and they spent the day cruising in his convertible. Good fun, good food, and over twenty years of "catching up" on a beautiful day was just what the doctor ordered! Bobby calls Jimmy "family" and hopes the time lapse before the next visit won't be quite as long! Now that they found each other they are sure to stay in touch.

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS!
Mildred Marmura, resident of CKM for over 5 years, will be celebrating her 100th birthday on December 17 of this year. What a milestone! Her daughter and son wanted to be sure those who wished to celebrate with her wouldn't be compromised by inclement weather in December so they planned the party for August 24. Thirty people traveled from all corners of PA, Ohio, and Virginia on Saturday to enjoy the day together. The weather was beautiful so festivities took place in the activity room and outside on the patio. Pictured below with Mildred are her son Ron, also a resident at CKM and her daughter Evelyn from Virginia Beach who planned the event.
PATIO PLAY
The patio has been getting a lot of use these beautiful days. Group activities are brought outside whenever possible and this summer the possibilities were endless! The flowers are also beautiful this year thanks to a lot of great weather and TLC!
NEVER TOO OLD!
Angele Stott is 95 years old and still cutting hair! Fran Rosanna confidently agreed to let Angel cut his hair and it sure boosted her spirits. She snipped and sprayed and carefully examined his hair while she worked. The quality of her work and entertainment value was an enthusiastic thumbs up! Angele owned her own beauty salon called Stott's on main street in Brockway and she worked there well into her eighties.
