HAPPY HOUR!

The newest activity at Christ The King is a HUGE success. Every other Friday we have happy hour in the activities room and this activity is so popular we run out of space! No worries, though. Overflow is seated in the Main Dining Room where plenty of guests enjoy a drink and refreshments.

DAHS GIFTED STUDENTS

The DuBois Area High School gifted students began volunteering their time at Christ The King. Under the direction of Dan Minns, they will visit CKM to host a special BINGO one evening a month for our residents. December 1 was their first visit and not only did they bring themselves which is a gift in itself, they brought cookies to distribute. We look forward to their next visit on January 5.

ENTERTAINMENT BY "GLENDALE TRAIN"

Glendale Train brought a full house with standing room only to our dining room on November 16. Fun, frolic, and spiritual gratification was plentiful that evening when Pat Hibbert and her group entertained our residents with exceptional talent. Their repertoire includes old country, new country, gospel, and more. They visit nursing homes in our area as part of their ministry and we are grateful and blessed to have had them here.

AUCTION !

November 10 was our first auction at CKM and it was a BLAST! This took place of our monthly yard sale and it sure was a nice change. We have our very own auctioneer, Tonia Duttry and the rest of the activities staff presented and modeled the items and attire that were being auctioned off. Everything from clothing, jewelry, lamps, blankets, room decorations, pillows, and more were to be had that day. The residents were provided with CKM money and, of course, a bidding paddle with which bid on the items they wanted. You can be sure there was no less competition and action here at CKM than you would find at a regular auction. Our next one is scheduled for December 8 and we can’t wait! All items were generous donations by staff, family and friends. Thank You!

VETERAN'S DAY AT CKM

Veteran’s Day is treated with the utmost respect it deserves at Christ The King. Forty-six veterans were honored on November 11 during our annual Veteran’s Day Celebration. Many of them were WWII and Korean War veterans. The DuBois Honor Guard was present for a gun salute and taps. The Marine Corps League was also present to honor our veterans. Each veteran at CKM was announced during the celebration and presented with a personalized laminated certificate depicting their branch of service.

COLORING CONTEST

Every day brings something fun. In September we had a coloring contest and everyone who wanted to had a chance to color a fall picture. We posted the pictures for a week and gave the residents and staff a chance to vote. Our winner, Mary Shaffer, received a pound of homemade peanut butter fudge.

FIT-N-FUN IS FUN !!!!!

Excersize class is not only fun at CKM, it’s beneficial. Tonia and Debbie work hard to make sure it is both. They each have worked in the Activities department for over 4 years and whatever they are doing you can be assured it brings smiles to our resident’s faces.

FALL IS WELCOMED AT CKM !

Every year a much anticipated activity at Christ The King is making scarecrows and putting together our fall displays. Our residents worked diligently stuffing and stuffing and with the help of our talented activities staff, they all came together! This year we have as one of the displays a scarecrow family, which seems to be a favorite.

INFECTIOUS GROVES

David Borrelli brought his “Infectious Groves” to Christ the King and entertained our residents in September. He was great at getting our residents involved and they had a wonderful time. We are blessed with the entertainers who show up here all because they care.
