CELEBRATING 60 YEARS OF LOVE !

Ella and Don Bullers celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family here at Christ The King.  They were married at the Reynoldsville Methodist Church.  Don visits Ella almost every day and after 60 years they still hold hands!  Their love and devotion is an inspiration to all married couples.

CKM CENTENARIANS

Mary Parziale and Margaret Grenier are our newest centenarians at Christ The King Manor.  Mary celebrated her birthday on August 9 and Margaret on August 11.  Both were born in 1915.  Both of their families had special celebrations for them and had people travel from near and far to celebrate.

Mary Parziale said that she is happy to be 100.  “My Grandmother lived to be 102 and I hope to live to that milestone.  My son said I wouldn’t make a good stew…I am too tough!”

“When I was 99 my doctor asked what I did to live that long” said Margaret Grenier.  She told him, “Well…I lived!” Margaret has many beautiful memories and two of her favorite sites are the Botanical Gardens in Hamilton, Ontario and the ice on Niagra Falls.

Mary and Margaret

We have five other residents who belong to this elite club.

When  Charlotte Varner was told that she was one of 7 residents that have reached 100 she said, “Well, I am happy to be in such good company!”  Charlotte is 105 years old, born on June 30, 1910.

Angeline Smith is lovely at 102 and has lived at Christ The King for almost 9 years.  Angie has a knowing smile when asked how she feels about her age.  She was born on January 6, 1913.

Kathryn Golla, who was born on August 7, 1914, said she feels “kinda special”  being 101 and her advice to living a long, healthy life is to “stay happy, get enough sleep, and eat right.”  We all should take that advice!

John Petrosky reminisced, “It’s been a wonderful life.  It’s what the good Lord gave me.” John's birth date is March 10, 1915.

Margaret Zinn’s secret is not to tell anyone how old you are.  “You don’t mention to anyone that you are 100.  Tell them you are 60 and act it!” Margaret is a beautiful 100 years old  and was born on April 17, 1915.

EXERCISE IS FUN!

Exercise can be fun with a giant parachute and some beach balls!  The activities department has a variety of activities that are fun and physically beneficial.

LONG, BEAUTIFUL SUMMER!

Many afternoons are spent outside on our beautiful patio.  Whatever activity is on the afternoon schedule, we try to adapt it to outdoors if possible.  From grilled hot dogs, tomato sandwiches, fried cabbage and noodles to folding, trivia, current events, and just getting together to chat, we have spent more time outdoors this year than any year in recent memory...and we're not done yet.  Each season brings special activities and summer specialty is always outdoors.

356 CIRCUS PEANUTS!

The fun continues each month for the staff with our monthly guessing game.  In August Marcia Gulley, dietary assistant, made and EXACT guess of Circus Peanuts!  This is the third time we had an exact guess and it is also the third winner from our dietary department!  Perhaps they have an edge working with food all day!
