FAMILY OF DUCKS

A family of ducks has graced us with their presence again this year. The ducklings were born on Easter weekend and have now grown so big we have to look twice to identify the Mommy!

NATIONAL NURSING HOME WEEK

National Nursing Home week resulted in huge fun and resounding success. We did our traditional, tried but true activities and incorporated some new stuff as well. The residents and staff were honored and thanked with many fun activities and events.

The week began on Mother’s Day when each of our ladies received a hand made corsage. Monday morning we hung paper hearts that had been previously filled out by staff and residents stating what they love about CKM. Monday afternoon we had a Mother’s Day social, serving decedent cheesecakes and Mimosa to our residents. Monday afternoon we held our annual May crowning before mass.

On Tuesday we made “Fancy Flags” where residents decorated a paper flag with pictures they selected from magazines depicting their personal representations would be. Tuesday afternoon we held our Memorial Mass where we remembered each of our deceased residents over the passt year.

Wednesday’s activities included our annual Balloon Launch. We release bunches of balloons with a note attached asking for a reply if they are found. Each year we receive at least one return. One was as far as Allentown! We will patiently wait for a reply this year.

Thursday we held our annual Awards ceremony when each resident receives a personalized award for something extraordinary about him or her. Every resident in our skilled unit and personal care as well as day care received an award.

Friday we made promise flowers in keeping with the theme of the week “Fulfilling the Promise.” Our residents made a flower for a friend and one for themselves. Each one was different and beautiful. Friday afternoon we held our traditional “Staff and Resident Ice Cream Social” and had a constant flow of customers!

Staff enjoyed free meals, tailgating party, door prize giveaways, donuts, special desserts and each staff member received a CKM hooded sweatshirt.
