64 YEARS OF WEDDED BLISS!

One of our new residents felt especially welcomed when she came to CKM....her husband is a resident here also.  Gloria Lester has been with us for a month or so and lives directly across the hall from her husband, Guy.  We recently found out they have been married for 64 years and they still dote over each other!  On June 27, 1953 they were married at Saints Cosmos and Damien church in Punxsutawney of which they are lifetime residents.  Guy owned a metal plating shop and after Gloria and her sister-in-law started working there, Guy took a liking to her.  After two and a half months and several attempts, Gloria finally agreed to go out with him.  The rest, as they say, is history!

SEPTEMBER GUESSING GAME

Krysten Mauthe, CNA was the lucky winner of August's guessing game.  Her jar was filled with salt water taffy.  Our residents' enjoyed the leftover taffy after the jar was filled and it has become a very popular BINGO prize!  Wonder what's in store for September?

POSTER PAINTING, A SPECIALTY ACTIVITY

Do you remember the old "paint by number" kits?  Our residents do and they get so much enjoyment painting pictures for the seasons.  After their painting dries, black lines are re-drawn to create beautiful posters.  Some residents follow the diagram, some add their own personality to the drawing, and some just like to color...creativity is the key!

SOLAR ECLIPSE

Residents and staff enjoyed taking turns looking through "eclipse glasses" during the total solar eclipse on August 21.  Between 2:15 pm and 2:30 pm was the optimum time to view this spectacular event.  Exclamations of  "Amazing!"  "Spectacular!"  and "I can't believe I see it!" were repeated over and over as we reluctantly gave up the glasses for the next person to see.

...what the camera saw.

...what we saw thru the glasses!

ANOTHER ANNUAL KID'S DAY!

July 26 was another  day of fun and friends with our annual Kid's day event.  They enjoyed fun activities, prizes, good food, and lots of old fashioned fun as they connected with old friends and made new ones.  It was a beautiful day for a wonderful group of kids!
