VETERANS' DAY CELEBRATION

On November 11 our Veterans were remembered at a special ceremony to thank them for their service to our country.  Thirty-five Veterans were honored, many who served in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War.  The DuBois Honor Guard proudly presented them with a gun salute and playing of Taps.   The members of the activities department participated in special readings, prayers, and a video.  Members of he Marine Corps League were present and brought all of our vets a special treat.  All Veterans were named during the ceremony and presented with a personalized certificate of thanks from Christ The King Manor.  We thank the outside organizations, families, staff, and residents who were in attendance and mostly....THANK YOU VETERANS!

CHRISTMAS PLANNING BEGINS!

All day Friday in the activities room residents enjoyed hot cocoa with marshmallows, listened to Christmas Carols, and strung popcorn and cranberries that will be used on our beautiful main dining room Christmas Tree.  Families helped out as well.  What a lovely time to spend visiting your loved ones, at activities!

CALVARY BOYS

There's a new band in town!  All the way from West Decatur traveled the Calvary Boys to perform for our residents on November 12.  A harmonizing gospel quartet put on a wonderful performance of gospel music that was both impressive and inspiring.  All members of the Calvary United Methodist Church, they formed their quartet many years ago and have been performing ever since.  We look forward to them joining us again in January so look for them on our activities calendar and please join us if you can!

CLASS REUNION AT CKM

Joann Clontz was joined by members of her class of 1957 from St. Catherine's school.  They enjoyed a luncheon at CKM while getting caught up with each others' lives.  There were 27 students in their graduating class and they reminisced at how things have changed because all of their classes were taught by nuns! Great memories are fun to share.
Joann is seated and from left to right standing are Jack Green, Leah Green, Mary Gallagher Cooper, Alice Thomas Day, Ken Kerner, Loretta Hassan, and Joe Hassan.

NOVEMBER'S MILD TEMPERATURES MEANS EXTRA MOWING!

Bob Good always works diligently keeping the grounds of CKM beautiful.  This year he is in his tee shirt mowing in November!  We are very sure he would rather be doing this than shoveling snow and we hope is is mowing until December!

OUTSIDE IN NOVEMBER???

Yes!  November 4th & 5th residents enjoyed temperatures of 73 and 74 degrees!  We have never used our patio thru November but this year is different!  Perhaps it is a hint of how winter will be...mild!  Even though we are overdue for a mild winter, we'll take whatever God has in mind!

HALLOWEEN FUN

Every year CKM residents and staff have fun with Halloween.  Trick-or-treat for the staffs' children, dress-up day for residents and staff, contests, parties, food and lots of fun.  Many participate and most enjoy the festivities.
